De Oude Meul Country Lodge is situated in the heart of the Klein Karoo and surrounded by the natural beauty of the Swart Berg Mountain hills, Grobbelaars River and nature's spectacular variety of plants. With a variety of 4x4 Trail, hiking trail, etc.
God's Garden
The Little Karoo is a plant paradise. Here you will find the biggest variety of plants in the world and Boy will show you some of it. To visit this area and not do a tour of these very special plants, is like eating your main course without dessert!
Come and see the elephant foot, rhino bush, kraal bush, cracker bush, pig ear plants, mountain ferns, ox tongue aloe, speck bush, butter tree etc. Most of these plants grow in dry ground, as hard as cement. Such a big variety of plants together is worth a visit.
This beautiful Lodge offers an option of Bed & Breakfast (B&B) or Self Catering Accommodation Oudtshoorn for Families, Couples or Tour Groups.
We are situated at the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains about 14km outside of Oudtshoorn on-route to Cango Caves on the R328.
It is a working Ostrich Farm in season and also offers hunting in our mountains in season.
If you are lucky you can see the Fallow Deer and Waterfowl walking in front of the Self Catering Units and Restaurant at night where the Grobbelaars River flows.

We have 2 hiking trails for you to enjoy when you visit us. One shorter and easier, the other longer and more strenuous.

There is a dam that you can do some Bass fishing. So remember your fishing rods!!! Rods is also available from reception to rent.

4x4 Route with BBQ on the mountains

Swartberg Mountain Trip
For those people who do not want to drive the Swartberg Pass on their own, a small tour can be arranged in a Toyota double cab. 200km X R5.00 p/km (R1000)
