Watermill Farm Welcomes You. Surround yourself with the Serenity and Tranquility of Watermill Farm. Enfolded within the foothills of the Rooiberg Mountain Range, and enclosed by the demarcated Rooiberg Conservancy area, Watermill Farm is situated 3 kilometers from the Little Karoo village of Van Wyksdorp, off the R62 highway. Ideally suited to Nature lovers, plant and bird enthusiasts and those simply needing to soothe their souls.
At Watermill Farm we are immersed in unspoilt nature. We are surrounded by pristine veldt, clean air, and pure water that comes from a natural spring that bubbles out of the mountain from an ancient limestone aquifer. We are very aware of how privileged we are, and so we take our commitment to the environment and sustainability seriously. In our present day to day living, we do so with care and concern for the environment.
VanWyksdorp lies at the foothills of the Rooiberg Mountains, between the Swartberg and the Langeberg Mountain ranges. This region was home to the Hottentots prior to the coming of the white settlers. When the farm was first settled is unknown, as no records exist, but the earliest buildings still in use on the farm date to around the 1820’s, and were made from raw clay packed in blocks. The later cottages, remodeled over the years as the size of the families that lived here expanded and grew, were made from sun dried clay bricks.
Lavender Cottage:
The furnishings of this cottage reflect its old world charm, and the cottage now sleeps 3.
The Barn:
The Barn, nicknamed ‘Die Kasteel’ (The Castle), is a 3 sleeper.
Manor House:
The Manor House is a very spacious Two Bedroom cottage with spectacular views from every room over the dam, and the Langeberg Mountains beyond.
Mill House:
Mill House can sleep 3, (1 king size bedroom and 1 separate single bedroom). There is a bathroom with bath and overhead shower, a separate kitchen with a clay tiled floor, and a lounge/dining room.
